Establishing sexual compatibility is vital for a healthy relationship, and if it isn’t there, some couples might just call it quits. It is also possible, however, to be in a committed relationship with someone, consider yourself to be in love with them, and not really want to have sex with them.
In fact, not only is it possible, it’s more common than you think — last year, a study found that women tend to lose interest in sex about a year into a relationship. All the same, there is an undeniable stigma around people who are in a relationship but might not be into sex, which means that people aren’t talking about it as much as they could be.
Recently, to start more discussion on the topic, a Reddit user asked people to share how things panned out when they still loved their significant other, but had stopped being attracted to them. Scroll through to see what they had to say — you might be surprised by how much you relate. I did all the laundry, all the cleaning, all the emotional labor, etc. Sexual attraction was strong before we moved in together because I wasn’t doing those things; once we moved in together, and I realized the dishes would never be washed if I didn’t do them, sex declined rapidly.
The resentment that built over his lack of respect for my time and my labor completely overpowered sexual attraction. He never seemed to understand why I wasn’t horny after picking up his dirty socks and throwing out the wrappers he left laying around everywhere.

This Is Why I Won’t Date Someone I’m Not Immediately Attracted To
My sister did! Well, let me clarify: they went on ONE, excruciating date. They met on an online dating site and really hit it off.
However, there is another large group of men and women who actually should date people they’re not immediately attracted to, and I will tell you why!
Three main qualities go with being in love: attraction, closeness, and commitment. Relationships can be about any or all of these. Attraction is the “chemistry” part of love. It’s all about the physical — even sexual — interest that two people have in each other. Relationships that are based on attraction alone are usually more about fun and infatuation than real love. Conventional wisdom says that, for guys in their early teens, relationships are mainly about physical attraction.
Our survey showed that this “conventional wisdom” doesn’t mean all guys fall into this mold. First, we saw that it’s not just younger guys who go mainly for the way someone looks or their physical attributes: We had a few older guys say they were most interested in looks. And most of the year-old guys in our survey say they appreciate a person’s inner qualities, like kindness and intelligence. For example, Marley, 13, said the reason he loves his GF is a combination of her inner and outer qualities: “She’s deep and has real emotions, she acts herself and doesn’t act fake,” he told us.
I get lost in them.
What Do You Do When You’re Intellectually Attracted But Not Physically Attracted?
The guys were funny, kind, sometimes generically handsome. I would have felt guilty turning him down based on his looks. Needless to say, by the end of date two, I had no sexual desire and without that, no excitement to keep dating. Friends tell me to give up daydream expectations and not demand too much. As a teenager, my list of wants far eclipsed the short demands I request today.
It may not be politically correct to admit it, but these brooding, macho men can be compellingly attractive, with their downright seductive.
Those with borderline personality disorder have problems regulating emotional impulses and often experience rocky relationships. But new research suggests that many men find traits associated with borderline personality disorder to be appealing in physically attractive women. The study has been published online in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.
The relationship is like a roller coaster where the highs are very high and the lows are very low — this is why people probably stay in these types of relationships, because of the uncertainty and drama. In two studies, which included English-speaking adults, participants were asked to evaluate the dating appeal of hypothetical individuals.
The participants viewed a facial photograph of each target individual, along with a brief biography. The profiles varied in their level of facial attractiveness, psychopathic and borderline personality traits, and wealth. In line with previous research, Blanchard and her colleagues found that personality traits and wealth status were the most important factors in predicting dating appeal among female participants.
Women in the study tended to prefer partners who were high in wealth and low in psychopathic traits, even when they were rated as low in facial attractiveness. Previous research had been equivocal with regards to whether women are attracted to bad boys, and the findings from this study suggest they are not, at least in comparison to men who are less discerning. For men, attractiveness was the most important factor in predicting dating appeal. Men viewed physically attractive women who were high in borderline personality traits to be more appealing than women who were less physically attractive and low in borderline personality traits.

Some short men have a hard time meeting women – but not all, it seems.
In fact, I have a tendency to date d-bags. The ones that are arrogant. The ones that lie, cheat, and lie again. The ones that withhold affection in order to gain power. There are Nice Guys and there are Good Men. Nice Guys have no sense of self-worth. So what are the traits of these low value Nice Guys? Nice Guys talk a lot about how nice they are. They make sure you know about their good deeds. If this describes the majority of your romantic life, I want you to open up your mind a little and start looking at things a little differently from now on. First, consider this: everyone wants a perfect partner, but few people want to be the perfect partner. For years, I probably obsessed a little too much over this part of my life.
Why did you date him? Was it clear from the beginning that you didn’t find him attractive and you hoped that attraction would grow with time? How .
Every woman has had a friend who dated a guy who was clearly bad news, but she just couldn’t resist. Maybe, that “friend” was you. And yet, despite all the warnings and red flags, the pull of dating a “bad boy” was just too strong. So, even with all of the signs that heartbreak is on the horizon, why do we still find bad boys so appealing? It may not be politically correct to admit it, but these brooding, macho men can be compellingly attractive, with their downright seductive swagger.
We reached out to experts to find out why this allure is capable of taking over our rational thoughts. Evolutionary biologists would call “bad boys” hypermasculine, explains Michael R. Cunningham, Ph. They may also be rebellious or emotionally unavailable, says Madeleine A. In the most extreme and negative interpretation, bad guys display qualities of the so-called psychological dark triad, according to relationship researcher and coach Marisa T.
